Wake up dreamers!
What a spectacular movie musical experience! I never miss movie musical liked Evita, Moulin Rouge, The Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, Rent, High School Musical & even the latest animation musical Happy Feet, but I really can’t wait to tell everyone, Dreamgirls is certainly the best musical movie in my memory! Please go and watch this movie!!!
The movie was excellent. I saw it. The whole first half of the movie you forget that Beyonce is even in it. Eddie Murphy was very spectacular. And Jennifer Hudson (yes, an American Idol drop-out) really shines in this movie!
But disappointedly, the Malaysian audience just doesn’t show the appreciation of it. I watch it the second day of CNY, when the Chinese is still celebrating the year of the boar. It’s not surprising that most audiences on that day, are Malays.
I don’t mean to be racist. It’s not my interest, at all. What I need to say is, if you guys don’t understand what musical is, then please, please show a little respect to the musical masterpiece, or to the musical lovers like me, I mean, us. Or at least, show your little knowledge of cinema etiquette, butthead!
The audiences in front of my row seating left one by one. Some seem like going to the toilet, answering phone call, come back again, and some never come back also. The couple beside me even said ‘Oh, my god!’ when Jennifer Hudson sings again as she throws her emotion in the movie. Some find it funny when the actors sing as they talk in the movie. Hey, excuse me, don’t you know people sings as and when they speak and act in the musical? I bet they don’t even know (or never bother) there was a Puteri Gunung Ledang Musical in Istana Budaya too. Yes, Tiara sings. It’s a musical. Everyone sings as they talk. It’s great to see a movie musical with a smart sense of the genre such as ‘Dreamgirls’ in Malaysia. But what happened to our musical appreciation and cinema etiquette? Are you guys still dreaming or what?
